What is the best associates degree for a future air force weatherman. Not a meteorology degree.?
Not a meteorology degree just one that would give me a head start over some of my other candidates. i can't afford to go to OU or something like that. I was think an associates degree in some kidn of computer field. I want to get a degree so i can enlist as an E3 instaed of an E1

- Shoot for any earth sciences/chem/physics, if you can, and maybe understanding mathematics wouldn't hurt.
- Any of the earth sciences, climatology and believe it or not geography. I have a friend who was a forecaster in the USAF and his geography education made him a better forecaster.
- If not meteorology, anything STEM (science-technology-engineering-mathematics). Do what you like, preferably something related to weather, earth science, etc. However, it won't affect your enlistment (technically). There's no way to get a leg-up on the competition, besides sometimes a high ASVAB score. You only need 66 general aptitude (math and verbal) for 1W0X1. You (very likely) won't even enlist with the job guaranteed, just the electrical aptitude area.
- It makes no sense to earn an associates degree, just to enlist as an E-3. Why not just enlist for 6 years, and your promoted to E-3 after Tech School. Then earn your associates degree while on active duty, where the Air force will pay 100% of your tuition.
