  1. look for jack johnson, i hear he lives there. if that doesnt fit ya, just sit back and relax and enjoy the great weather and the time to yourself (who knows how long it will last), that is what i would be doing...hope that helps
  2. I also live on Oahu, I have been living here since I was born. If you want to do something besides beach, you have to come into town. There's Ward Center, which has a huge movie theater and D&B with nice shops and restaurants. Ala Moana Mall, which has great shopping and great gourmet food. Waikiki is always fun and fast paced. You can go to concerts at Pipeline Cafe or the Blaisdell Center. Or my personal favorite, North Shore. It's kind of beachy, but the town of Haleiwa is amazing. You can go to pipeline and watch the surf competitions. Or to the most famous shave ice place in Hawaii. I don't know what kind of job you can get, though. But I'm sure there'll be lots of options once you've decided what it is you want to do.
  3. If you want more than malls and movies, check in the community section of the Honolulu Weekly, or other newspaper. (I mentioned the Weekly because it is free) There are often Community projects, Club and Organization meeting and events, Information on Museum and Gallery shows, and more. Get involved in your community or your church (If you attend). There is such a rich mixture of cultures to enjoy here, try to experience as much as possible.
  4. Since you just moved here, there is a lot to do, places to see & go shopping. To tell you the truth, after maybe 3 months & you've seen everything on this island. IT GETS BORING. I mean, you can't just go to the beach EVERY DAY, right? not very many malls here either. For now, you should drive around the island, check out North Shore, taste different foods they have here. Go to Dole Plantation, Sea Life Park, Ala Moana Shopping Center, Water Park, go site seeing.....it's a small island, it's beautiful but don't expect too much out of it. You might want to visit the other islands as well. We've been to all. I like Kauai & Maui the best.
  5. I have met Jack Johnson he is an average joe you won't see him in his limo or anything like that, you might not even notice him walking past you at food land, anyway the water park is always fun surf night takes place early December at sunset beach elementary school where I went to i is a blast they raffle of surf boards and stuff lots of stickers and there is also a HUGE line for surf posters with people signing from kelly slater and Jon Jon and Co Co Ho, it will be easy to find things to do, surf contests at sunset beach alot (you can tell I lived around mostly north shore) thats all the info I have :)
  6. i can tell you where not to go BELLOWS BEACH you might get eaten by a shark
  7. If you're living in Waianae and you're going to UH, I would suggest you move before school starts or else you'll be spending at least 2 hours each way going to and from school every day! As far as things to do, I would suggest you join up with a local church or do some volunteer work, you'll make friends in no time. As for a job, I would suggest you check out the Sunday edition of the Honolulu Advertiser or www.hawaiijobsonline.com. There are lots of things out there.....you've just got to look and apply! Good luck!
