Career In Meteorology

does the national weather service have geologists working for them?

i am in college and working on a degree in geology, i wanted to major in meteorology but, the math is incredibly hard and they are not too many schools who offer it. i was wondering if geology is somewhat related to meteorology and could i get i job at the national weather service? thank you in advance!

  1. NWS does hire at least a few geologists, and it's parent organization, NOAA, would hire geologists as well. Many such jobs would be working in hydrology or in climate change. Here's a current NOAA job advertisement for a hydrologist, where a degree in geology appears to qualify: http://jobsearch.usajobs.gov/getjob.asp?JobID=65827378&jbf574=CM54&brd=3876&AVSDM=2007%2D12%2D08+11%3A59%3A38&q=geology&sort=dt&vw=d&Logo=0&FedPub=N&caller=%2Fa9noaa%2Easp&FedEmp=N&ss=0&TabNum=3&rc=2
