Question about Meteorology -- the job?
Alright I have a question for anyone who has any experience in the job field of meteorology...i am looking to pursue a career in it (possibly). I like the subject itself enough but how would you say the job is, as in a personal account of what the reality of it is. There has to be one person on yahoo who has experience in it. Honest answers that are NOT sarcastic would be appreciated. Thank you. Basically the question was that if you have had experience in this field, what is your personal account of it? I don't plan on going into the TV aspect of it, I would much rather study weather patterns and relay information. Thank you for the careerbuilders link, by the way. I'll look into that.

- What is the question? (seriously) I think the job would be fun. I love meteorology too. Specially hurricanes/typhoons.
- I was a weather anchor for a few years, though I never pursued a meteorological degree. There are many jobs in the field. Do you prefer TV weather? A job at the National Weather Service or AccuWeather? Aviation forecasting? The study of meteorology is more than atmosphere - it is math, math and more math, as well as science. You have to decide what part of meteorology you wish to go into, and find the right degree program for yourself. If it is TV: Get a job in the field in a small market. Get trained and experienced in all aspects - production, camera, news writing, weather, etc. Find your niche before you jump in with both barrels.
