Career In Meteorology

What are the pros and cons of a career in meteorology?

What kinds of jobs can I get? I am 30 and finishing up my degree, does that matter? Are all the jobs rotating shifts? Can the job be adventuress? How hard is it to get a job in the NWS? What is the best job to have? Can a degree from an American school be used else where in the world?
