Career In Meteorology

What is a good school for meteorology?

I really want to go to Florida State University, I know they have a good program there. I currently reside in Washington State and the University of Washington also has a meteorology program. I am willing to live in Florida a year to establish residency in order to get the large discounted in-state rate. According to US News and World Report, UW ranks 42 and FSU ranks 110. After college, is it that important which college you attended? Which is better for meteorology? If it helps, I'm much more interested in severe/tropical forms of weather, esspecially hurricanes. I'm originally from New Orleans one reason I would rather choose FSU is because I need to get back south, I really do not like it up here. I have also heard a great deal more about FSU than UW. I'm just wondering how credible FSU is compared to UW or if it really makes that much of a difference.

  1. I was looking into doing meteorology over in the states and one that kept coming up was Oklahoma University... the one in Norman.. which i have read is the best one in the country for that.. but idk..
  2. Looking for adventure? If so, I might suggest Edmonton (in Canada)... http://www.stuffintheair.com/meteorology-university-degree.html ...especially if you have an interest in graduate studies.
