Career In Meteorology

Does anyone know any schools in the southeast that have a good meteorology program?

I have been interested in meteorology since that age of 4. I want to go into broadcast meteorology.. I live in Georgia and there aren't very many schools in the state that have a good meteorology program. Does anyone know a school in the Southeast that has a good program for meteorology?

  1. There are 5 colleges with meterology programs in the southeast - Daytona State College, Florida Institute of Technology, University of Miami, University of North Carlina at Charlotte, and Western Kentucky University. I didn't actually look at the programs so I don't know if it is an actually meterology program or an emphasis within another program like physics. You may also want to consider programs like atmospheric physics dynamics, atmospheric dynamics, engineering science, environmental science, physical science, or planetary science. I would recommend looking into atmospheric science in addition to meteorology. Schools in the southeast that have atmospheric science include - Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida State University, Jackson State University, Miami Dade College, North Carolina State University, University of Louisiana at Monroe, University of North Carolina at Asheville, & University of South Alabama. The second website will give you information about being a meteorologist and how to become a meterologist. Good luck.
