What should I do if the Navy has stopped recruiting for the job I want?
I really really really wanted to join the Navy for the Aerographers Mate career in Meteorology and Oceanography, but I spoke with somone in the chat room today that said they stopped recruiting for that. It's really the only career that interests me in the Navy just because it is in close relation to my college degree with Marine Biology/Oceanography. I really wanted to get experience in this field. What should I do. Should I wait... If so how long. I am really confused now. Has anyone ever dealt with this situation before? What jobs are in high demand right now for the Navy? Is there another career that is close to this one that would be good for my Marine Biology background? Any help is much appreciated!

- October 1st the start of the new fiscal year. Jobs for that rating will open up at that time. Make sure you are 100% ready to go by that date so that you can see the classifier when the new requisitions come out.
- Well there you have it. In a chat room- obviously one of the premier sources of information about what is and isn't happening in the Navy. Perhaps this chat room can also once and for all settle who shot JFK and whether or not PAT is a man or a woman. Good grief
- AG is a small rating to begin with so there is never much demand for it. you can only wait so long.. and after a while the recruiter will no longer be willing to work with soemone who wants one rating and one rating only, especially one such as AG. what your degree is in has NOTHING to do what with jobs you can do in the military. in fcat they won;t even take it into consideration.. only your ASVAB line scores will determine what jobs you are eligible for. so either be more open minded, or stay civilian.
