If im planning a career in either being an airline pilot or air traffic controller, but for my 4 yr degree i want it to be in either meteorology or aeronautical engineering, which would be better?

  1. meteorology if you go into air traffic control and aeronautical engineering if you decide you would rather fly planes. best of luck to you! post script: air traffic control is an extremely grueling job. look into it further if you decide to go that route.
  2. The Engineering degree will benefit you more.
  3. Well, the airlines don't care what your degree is in so long as you have one. The FAA doesn't care if you have a degree (not that it doesn't help in the hiring process). My main concern then would be what would you do if you wash out of ATC / get furloughed at an airline or just lose your medical due to health reasons? Well, I'd imagine jobs with only a BS to be easier to get with meteorology than aernautical engineering which I assume wouldn't be worth too much without a masters degree. If that is the case I wouldn't want to be in a position where I'm now jobless, living on savings and having to go to grad school for a few years. Now if I'm wrong and the job market for a BS in either is equal, then whichever you like best. You can always major in one and minor in the other.
