Why does my shin hurt before it rains?

I broke my shin several years ago (awesome back story: I played bass in a heavy punk/grunge band and a piece of stage equipment fell on me during the show) and now, a couple days before a storm, my shin aches so bad that I usually have to take Ibuprofen or something for it. I've heard of people with previous joint damage or arthritis having problems like that, but mine is in the middle of my shin and NOT at a joint. What causes that pain? And should I focus on a career in meteorology? ha ha

1. Lots of people get pain in their legs and joints before it rains. It has to do with changes in the barometric pressure.
