Question about major in college and becoming a naval officer through nrotc ?
If i decide to major in meteorology in college, does that mean i must serve as a meteorologist in the navy (METOC officer), or can i choose a career path like aviation in the navy?

- Your major has nothing to do with what career you choose in the Navy
- Your major has nothing to do with it. After your junior year you get evaluated and choose a wish list on what you want to do. The higher you are on the order of merit, the higher your chooce will be. I was a history major selected for military intelligence with a branch transfer to infantry. Army of course.
- You could still go Naval Aviator, it isn't like understanding wind/weather has nothing to do with air-o-dynamics, but why don't you go for studying what it is you most like and want to do/ and then actually doing that job when you are serving, it isn't like we dont have weather-people in a battle group and yes, they are normally on the Aircraft carriers, predicting weather over a lot larger area then your run of the mill weatherman on tv.
