How difficult is it to find a job/career in Meteorology? This is what I want to study, but I wanted to know how hard it might be to find a career after school? I don't know if I should choose another major I may have more luck in.
What are the pros and cons of a career in meteorology? What kinds of jobs can I get? I am 30 and finishing up my degree, does that matter? Are all the jobs rotating shifts? Can the job be adventuress? How hard is it to get a job in the NWS? What is the best job to have? Can a degree from an American school be used else where in the world?
What subjects should I focus on if I want to major in Meteorology? Is there anything that I should focus on extra if I want to major in Meteorology? I have a long lasting love of weather and I am (on my own) looking for classes and learning EVERY cloud and everything like that, so I'm sure that will help. A meteorology career would be both fun and rewarding for me, as I love weather and I know TV careers pay! Thank you!!!
Career in meteorology? I'm interested in majoring in meteorology. I am currently at a community college but will go to a 4 year college in the fall. What classes would be good to take? What jobs could I get? What's the salary like?
How do I start my career with acting or meteorology? These two things really interest me but I understand how hard it is to become a sucessful actress/actor and I just don't know much about starting a career in meteorolgy!
Meteorology Career and the Navy.? I am about to go to MEPs and all that. I know that you pick a job once you take the ASVAB, and see what is avaliable for you. Lets just say I earn high enough that I can have just about any job I like. I am interested in the Science field. I have read the summary on the Navy website and alot of it deals with Nuclear work and some Meterology and Oceanography. My question is, if you pick this job do you have to work with Nuclear and go to nuclear school, or can you just work with Meteorology and Oceanography.
Interested in a career in meteorology? Hey everyone. I'm a sophomore in high school now, and have been becoming really interested in two things: the weather and local TV news. I've been thinking of maybe shooting for a career in broadcast meteorology. I love to give presentations, love watching (and kind of studying!) our local newscasts, love studying about the atmospheric conditions, and most equation-type and graphing-type math is fairly easy for me. However, I'm not so great at chemistry, but really only because my teacher isn't so great. Btw, I'm in Algebra II this year, and am taking Chemistry and Biology for my sciences. Anyways, I'm probably going full IB (International Bacculaureate, kind of like AP and Honors stuff) next year. I'm planning on taking the 2-year Physics IB course for my junior & senior years. What classes should I try to take while I'm in high school, do during summers and for extra-curriculars, and once I get to college, what kinds of stuff do I need to do? I'm interested in LSU, which is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I'd like to be able to stay in that market area for a job if I can, but I do understand that broadcast meteorology can really "take you places," and that's OK... Also, does anyone know the yearly salary, work hours, and that kind of stuff for the TV meteorologists in the Baton Rouge metro area? Thanks for the help!!!
How is meteorology as a career field? hard job to get? good money entry level? availability? long hours? Is meteorology a good career choice? could I make good money straight out of school and out of the air force? and could I get a good entry level job? Please any meteorologists please tell me how it is and if you work long hours and how the job is in general thank you!
Are there any Army Officer Careers in Meteorology? I have a degree in Earth/Atmospheric Science. I have applied to the Air Force but I am almost sure I am not going to get it because they are currently downsizing. I would really like to utilize my degree. What career fields in the Army would I enjoy and what would my duties be? Thanks.
What are some unusual careers in Meteorology? I'm interested in finding out about careers you would not have thought of in the field of Meteorology.
A career in meteorology? How much does it pay?
Options for continuing education - looking for career in meteorology buuuuut...? Working on obtaining a bachelors of science in environmental sciences and I want to become a meteorologist... the minimum education for meteorology is a bachelors but how can I go from my bachelor to meteorology? Im taking college classes online right now, but I would be willing to move to attend college after i get my bachelors but i need to know what courses would be needed to be able to go into meteorology. is there such thing as a masters in meteorology and could I take that after I finish my bachelors in environmental sciences?? LOL, online colleges are fake? Explain to me how my cousins wife completed her bachelors online and went on to become an anesthesiologist then... anyway there are research positions, and positions at almost all airports, newstations like you said, the govt employs meterologists, not to mention the military, etc. Im not worried about looking for a job yet, im worried about the college part right now
Would studying Meteorology in college be worth it? Would it get me a solid career?
Changing Careers... meteorology.? I graduated with a BS in Religious Studies 3 years ago. I've wanted to be a meteorologist since I was in 7th grade. I work in non profit, and I like what I do (Research Manager-social sciences), but I would really like to do more of the technical things. So... what are the day to day tasks of a meteorologist? What is the career outlook? average starting salary? Could I take a year of make up classes then start my masters?
Hydrography or Meteorology; which area would offer a better career after military service? I'm joining the Navy as a WS(HM), I can select a preference of field, I would like to do Hydrography or Meteorology; I don't really mind what I do, but I was thinking of getting a career in that area after my military service. Which of the two would offer me a better career? I'm not sure about these kind of things in civilian jobs, so any help on which would be better would be very much appreciated. Thank you
Best college for meteorology? i want to pursue a career in meteorology, anyone know good colleges?
would pursuing a meteorologist career be a good idea, earnings wise? I am 14 years old and I love weather. in a couple years (college isn't far away) I want to pursue a career in weather, meteorology, and/or storm chasing, i am just worried about the earnings of both of these careers. (i am an excellent student) would i make a good choice if i did pursue this career?

Meteorology and mathematics? I am a junior in high school and I'd like to become a meteorologist but I'm concerned about the math involved. I'm in trigonometry right now, next semester I'm taking pre-calculus and next year I'm taking calculus and statistics. I'm not bad at math nor am I excellent at it. It's usually one of my favorite subjects. How good at these classes do I need to be to pursue a career in meteorology?
Colleges with good meteorology programs? I'm doing a career project on meteorology and I have to choose 5 colleges that will be helpful in attaining this career. What are some good colleges (in the U.S.)?
Is this too much for my first year in college? I start college in a month. I've signed up for 5 classes which equals 15 credit hours at the community college. I'm trying to earn my degree as quickly as possible so I can start my career in meteorology soon plus in a few years tuition and textbooks may cost more due to inflation or however the economy worsens (if it does). Some of my friends think I am doing a course overload, what's your opinion? I'm also planning to get a ob on campus part time.
Can anyone tell me about the Army MOS 13W Field Artillery Meteorological Crewmember? I eventually want to pursue a career in meteorology. However, for now, I want to enlist in the U.S. Army. Therefore, I thought that MOS would be rewarding and marketable. I'm sure not very many people have had that particular job, but if anyone knew or dealt with Soldiers with that MOS when they served in the Army and could tell me anything the recruiters may have failed to mention I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
What careers are in Meteorology? I want to go major in meteorology in college but I don't know that i can do after that
Where should I begin in an independent study of meteorology? I'm a 15 year old female, sophomore in high school. I've been starting to research different career topics and colleges. I came across meteorology and I'm interested in pursuing an independent study on the topic, but what exactly makes up meteorology, (I know it has to do with weather, I don't mean that.) and where's a good place to start?
For all the meteorologists out there? I'm in high school, and am considering pursuing a career in meteorology. Is there anything specific that I need to know/do in order to be more prepared? Ex: any classes I should take, etc...
Which career is in more demand, forensic sciences, meteorology or geology? I was just wondering, because i heard there isnt much demand for forensic sciences and that you have to be a cop before you go into forensics. (I wanted to go into lab work actually, no pathology for me...). So i just sort of threw that out, and i became interested in meteorology and geology. Basically, i was just wondering when you get out of post-secondary- which one are you guaranteed a job asap? Like, will they be asking you to work with them or will you have to job hunt because of the profession you chose to study? Any info on this would be much appreciated. Im currently in high school, so i was just wondering.
Which College should I chose to go to for meteorology? I am 14 years old and am looking into future careers and colleges. I have been interested in atmospheric sciences or more commonly known as meteorology. I am mainly interested in the storm chasing aspect of the career. I would also settle for working in a government run operation like the National Weather Service. I am not interested in broad casting. Which colleges would be best for my interests?
What career do you think would be better to pursue? I am interested in a career in either finance like becoming a personal financier, or going into the study of meteorology. What would be better off in the long run?
Choosing a career: How to make the right choice? I'm attending a community college, and I'm going to apply to the auto tech program next summer. The reason being that I took an auto. class a few quarters ago and loved it. I had been f**kin' around in college for my first year and half, so I needed to choose a career path soon. However prior to that I wanted to be a meteorologist, but I decided against it because it was too hard and required too much math. I feel like I made my career choice because of its difficulty level, rather than how happy I will be doing it for 20-25 years years before I can retire.I was thinking about it, and I realized that I enjoy working on cars, but will I enjoy doing it 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week? I'm at a point in my life, fortunately, where I can go either way since I'm young and still in school. How do I make the "right" choice? Right meaning the career that I can happily do 40-50 hours a week? I love both auto.tech and meteorology, but I just don't know.
How long would it take to get a Phd in meteorology? I am going to college this fall as a freshmen and i know that for my future career plans i will need a Phd, so i was wondering how long would that take?
When it is too late to start over in a new career path? I am 25 with an undergrad degree in business and almost finished a masters in HR. I have lost interest in the field and have been thinking about going back to school for meteorology/atmospheric science. Is it too late to start over?
READ THIS Here is my career? P.S- How much would I get paid at the Weather Channel or CNN as a meteorologist? I am 13.5 years old. I want to become a meteorologist when i grow up. Here is my career I want to go to Cornell University to get a Masters Degree in Meteorology. Then I am going to be an OCM at the Weather Channel for at least 10 years. During that time I am going to cover hurricanes/blizzards for the network. Then I am going to CNN as a Worldwide Meterologist. I want to earn an Emmy Award and contain an AMS Seal of Approval and be an CBM(Certified Brodcast Meteorologist).
If i did a BSc in physical geography, what kind of career path could i go from there? I would like to go into meteorology from there... is it possible?? What other proffessions could i enter?

I’m thinking changing my career to find someone? 22 years old and never been in a relationship my entire life and never dated and its always talk to girls and it fades away. I always wonder am I’m even a likable person or I was born in the wrong world. I was talking to this girl and I kind of liked and repeat the same pattern. Talk to get to know her for at least and that is far as I go. I never hear from anyone say wanna go out sometime instead all I get is I see you next week. I think it has to do with what I’m majoring in for a career. I’m a meteorology major and I think people think scientists are nerdy and it’s affecting me pretty heavy. So I’m thinking of changing my major to Business or lie about it instead. It seems people who are majoring in business tend end up in relationships most frequently, so if me majoring in business means I will find someone then that will be my new major. If that doesn’t work then I will have to go single for the rest of my life. I’m just tired being single all the time I just wanna experience dating at least once before I die. I don’t know how long I’m gonna live just because I’m young doesn’t mean I have a whole life ahead of me. I can go anytime. It seems everyone I know has dated before or currently in a relationship while I’m still have an empty history. I just feel like that love and relationships is never gonna be part of my life. People my age have dated 6 times already while I’m at 0. I’m depressed and I feel like I’m total failure. I’m just good for nothing, may be I should buy me a manikin as a girlfriend since that is as close as it’s gonna get.
where is the best place to live if.....? where is the best place to live if you want a career in meteorology
WTF? GPA Averages for Colleges too high? I was reading some stuff, and I saw that the average GPA. for incoming freshman at a lot of Universities was like 3.7. WTF?!?! My GPA. is like .5 lower than that! Are they exaggerated, or am I just not up to par with other students. I really want to pursue a career in Meteorology... but....
Do all the tornadoes in a single thunderstorm rotate in the same direction? I am planning on setting my career in the feild of meteorology, and this is a question i have always found trouble getting an answer....someone please answer!
Can i become a meteorologist? Hey everyone, I have pretty high expectations of studying in meteorology. I live in South Australia. Here comes the difficult part, I am only 16 years old and dropped out of school at the end of year 9 as i was bullied allot etc...The main topic of meteorology i would like to study is "natural disasters" but would like to pursue my career in meteorology in general such as atmospheric changes to weather or weather forecasting etc. Is there any way and if so the best way to get into this line of jobs and studying? I relies my Age and the fact that i dropped out of school will be a big issue! but am wondering if theres any way around this? Thanks Michael Thompson?
What should I do if the Navy has stopped recruiting for the job I want? I really really really wanted to join the Navy for the Aerographers Mate career in Meteorology and Oceanography, but I spoke with somone in the chat room today that said they stopped recruiting for that. It's really the only career that interests me in the Navy just because it is in close relation to my college degree with Marine Biology/Oceanography. I really wanted to get experience in this field. What should I do. Should I wait... If so how long. I am really confused now. Has anyone ever dealt with this situation before? What jobs are in high demand right now for the Navy? Is there another career that is close to this one that would be good for my Marine Biology background? Any help is much appreciated!
Questions about becoming a meteorologist (Weather forecaster)? I am a grade 10 student, and have always been fascinated by weather. I am considering after high school trying to pursue a career in meteorology. I have a few questions. Answer one or all if you can.: 1) What courses, particularly Sciences, should I take in my senior years? The ones offered to me are Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Earth Sciences. Any other coarse suggestions would be appreciated. 2) I live BC, Canada. What good programs/ colleges or Universities are there near my area? Or close to my area? 3) What is the salary like in Meteorology? Thanks, and if you have any more tips I would appreciate those as well!
UCLA STUDENTS LISTEN UP!? i want to pursue a career in meteorology my plans is to transfer to a Florida state university.... but i still have some kinds of doubts because in the other hand im interested in assisting UCLA.... is someone from here currently or graduated from UCLA with a major in B.S {ATMOSPHERIC,OCEANIC, AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES} i want to know .. who what , when ,where, how ? was your experience like? do yo u think is worth to enter to UCLA and pursue that major? i mean like i said im still undecided i want to go to FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY WHERE THEY OFFER METEOROLOGY BROADCASTING B.S. BUT IN THE OTHER HAND I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT UCLA......DO THEY HAVE WHAT IM LOOKING FOR? PLEASE HELP!!! WHAT EVER INFORMATION WILL BE HELPFUL THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!
What should I do for my career? I am a freshmen at college. I did not know where I should go, or what to study, so I am going to a community college for a year. My family is telling me to go into finance, but that is not what i am interested in. I have always been interested in weather. Everywhere I go, I will look at the 10 day forecast, and I am amazed with some of the things I see. Should I study meteorology? Where could I go to study meteorology in the United States or in Europe?
Why does my shin hurt before it rains? I broke my shin several years ago (awesome back story: I played bass in a heavy punk/grunge band and a piece of stage equipment fell on me during the show) and now, a couple days before a storm, my shin aches so bad that I usually have to take Ibuprofen or something for it. I've heard of people with previous joint damage or arthritis having problems like that, but mine is in the middle of my shin and NOT at a joint. What causes that pain? And should I focus on a career in meteorology? ha ha
AP Classes- what do you think about this lineup? Okay, I am currently a junior heading into this year, and I have chosen my classes. 3 of them being AP and 1 honors. I have been consistently warned about the toughness of the AP courses and how I can be burned out before the midterm exams. What do you think about this lineup for this year: AP English Language & Comp AP Statistics AP Physics B Honors American History Television Production 3&4 (same class, just 2 seperate periods) *in TV Prod, we do ABSOLUTELY nothing most of the time. Just something extra, my future career is Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma (hoping to go there). Can this year help me get accepted for when I apply? i forgot to mention, I have already taken Physics Honors, Pre-calculus Honors, and 2 straight English Honors classes. Passed all of them easily except for precalc, which I ended with a C in. Im very good at math, and this is the first year that i have had trouble with it.
Mom hates my skin-color and other races of people? I need help on dealing with a mother who hates my skin completion for whatever reason. Sometimes whenever we are watching TV shows involving models for example, she bursts out with anger and make statements like "Look at those light-skinned women, think that they are better than everybody else with their nose up in the air!" and "There would be no light-skinned/mixed people if other races would stop dipping into the black race." It hurts when she openly makes statements like this because I am light-skinned. My mother has made statements like this so often until yesterday I decided to ask whether or not she thought the same of me because of my skin complection. I was shocked when she said that I hated her instead because of her brown skin. In addition to this, she went on to accuse me of trying to be "too white" because of my current career choice (meteorology) How am I supposed to respond to this?
How does the military pay for college? Okay, so I am a junior in high school and I have a 2.33 gpa on a 4.0 scale and I know that's not the best ever and I really want to persue a career in aerospace engineering or meteorology and I'm looking at both the air force academy and the university of Oklahoma (both are out of state). I wanna know how and what I would have to do to get the air force to pay for my college and what the requirements are.
What do airmen in the military (air force) do? Simple as that. If I were to enlist in the air force, what would my life be like? Do I actually go somewhere and fight? Would I even be trained to fight or is the air force strictly a force through the air? If I wanted to go to college concurrently, how would that work? Is there any way to be in the air force but practice my career? I am majoring in meteorology and want to be a meteorologist for the air force. What are the chances of that and is it even possible? How does that work?
Is it better to attend a small aviation college or a larger one? I still have some time to decide, but just wondering if it would be worth it to go to a bigger more expensive one like the University of North Dakota, or Southern Illinois, or if it would be better to choose a cheaper in state college, my only option being the University of Nebraska Kearney, which is a small town college. Just wondering what some of your thoughts were about a cheaper, in state, or a more expensive out of state college. By the way, I am also going to major in some other field, possibly meteorology, so I have a career to fall back on later, if I get furloughed or something. Answers much appreciated, especially from people who have gone the civillian route into aviation, as I plan to. Also, are the airlines (regional or major) more likely to hire you if you have gone to a big name school? And, are they more willing to hire you if you have a degree in meteorology, in my case, than if you are only taking aviation related classes?
Can anyone provide me with some general info or opinions on starting a career in aeronautics? Hi. I am 17 years old and have about 80 hours of flight experience.... on Flight Simulator. In real life: 0 The time has come for me to decide what to do with my life. I've chosen a ton of majors or career paths including: aerospace/aeronautics meteorology psychology telecommunications and teaching. I have been researching a lot into aeronautical colleges, but since i live in missouri I almost must go out of state for college, which makes it a tough decision. I know if i join the air force that i have a slim chance to fly. My interests in aeronautics includes: (in order of interest) Air Traffic Control Commercial Pilot Airport Management Flight Education So what i'm asking is for you to help live my dream; give me some information on different schools and paths to go in order to be in a good spot for an aeronautical career. Thanks in advance.
Air Force or Navy? Which one?(Please read details)? I am planning on joining the military through an ROTC program, I would like to go to N Carolina St., and have learned it has ROTC programs for the AF and Navy, I would like a career in one that works with science or math because I enjoy both, I have seen careers such as meteorology or nuclear power that look very interesting. I would like your opinion on which branch is better suited for me, And Why? Thank You
I want to be a meteorologist. What should I do? Well, I'm going into high school soon. Can someone tell me what classes I should take? I also need help selecting a college. I do not want to be an on-camera meteorologist. I am really into forecasting and tracking hurricanes. It's a little early, but I'm leaning towards Florida State right now. Is that a good decision? Does anybody know some other colleges that offer what I'm looking for? I'm aware of the careers in meteorology. Which should I choose? Also, what's the pay? I know it depends on experience and what job you have, but could it be compared to another job's pay? Does it pay well? When my dad first brought me home from the hospital, the Weather Channel was on TV. When I was 3, I decided to be a meteorologist, not a baseball player. When I was 5, I dressed up as a meteorologist for Halloween. Meteorology has been calling to me since I was two days old. Please, I need some answers. This is my dream.
What career should I choose? I have some ideas in mind, but I don't know which one I want to go with. One minute I'll really want one of them, and then I really want another one, and it's really confusing me, lol. Here's the careers I'm interested in: Photography Meteorology Technology of some kind (like Apple brand) And I love music (not talking about playing instruments, I'm talking about like today's popular music, like rap/hip-hop, pop, R%
Why am I looked down upon? I need encouragement? - I graduated college fall of 07. -Got a job in meteorology. My career field 3 months after graduation, making only $10 an hour. -My first and only girlfriend cheated on me after dating six months. She had slept with another dude, therefore we broke up and are just friends. Not to mention she had slept with 16 dudes before me and is only 20, I am 23. - My boss gives me a force resignation. I move home an now work as a night auditor at a hotel. -I am going back to school in the spring and getting into GIS (Geographic Information Systems). -My family considers me the never do well of the family and use destructive criticism against me. I am the only one confident of my future success. So why am I looked down upon?
Should I take AP Calculus AB and AP Statistics at the same time? I'm going to be a senior soon. I'm taking Pre-Calculus right now, and I'm doing rather well. I even got an A+ this quarter. I am also taking AP US History and AP Biology. I've decided to take it easy senior year and take all normal classes except AP Economics (half-year), my math class (which I'm good at), and my electives (Meteorology, Forensics, Career & Financial Management, etc.). I originally decided to just take AP Statistics, because I heard it was easier than AP Calculus. I realized today that I'm really good at Pre-Calculus. I don't want to let my studies to got to waste, and I want to prepare for college. Also, my favorite teacher is teaching AP Calculus, and I plan to major in Applied Mathematics.
Read my career choice. I want to become a meteorologist. Does the Weather Channel pay over $100,000? I want to become a meteorologist. I want a Masters Degree in Meteorology. I want to go to Cornell or Penn State. Then I want to work for the Weather Channel. I want to be the Weather Channel's Storm Tracker. If an area is under a tornado watch I want to go out and report on it. If there is a hurricane threatning land I want to go out and be near the eye. Plus I want to meet my future wife in high school.

Which career would allow one to help fight global warming? I would like my future to consist of helping the fate of others... Global warming is something that we can stop, we can save our earth. There are all these little things everyone can do, but I feel as though I'm not going enough. Which career path would this fall into? Meteorology? I want to be able to predict things, if it's getting better or worse, if a global climate change is really taking place, and how to stop it. Anyone? I don't know if this sounds ridiculous or not... please be polite and helpful!

Studying tornadoes as a career? Currently I am studying to be a Landscape Architect, but I also have a strong interest in meteorology and geology. Especially natural disasters, mostly Tornadoes though. If I wanted to go into studying tornadoes for a career, how would I go about that?

I am going to major in Atmospheric Science, most likely meteorology...and If I were to pursue this career what computer field will best go with this area of study?....like computer graphics, programming, what do you think?...whats the best computer science field to go with Atmospheric Science?
Choosing a career. (I have 2 I am comparing)? I am currently trying to find a career I would like to go into. Currently, I am going to be a junior in high school this year. I have 2 choices that I would like to do after high school. Those being: Meteorology Computer Security Specialist (Or something in the computer area) Since a child I have always loved the weather and being around it. I would like to know if I could find a career where I could combine my love for the weather and my love for computers? I do love both but if you could go through the different advantages and disadvantages of each, that would be nice. I am looking for a well paying job, because my family has not been the richest of people in the past. A few other things about me to include in this would be: I am kind of shy and do not exactly like going in front of people. So if you could, please tell me what you think I should choose.
What careers are involved with the study of tropical storms? I really like learning about Tropical Cyclones, but I don't know of any future careers I could do where I get to research them. I have already looked into Meteorology and Climatology and I am not sure if I want to do those. Climatology seems OK, but I suck at Physics. Any suggestions?
What was the working environment when you work with earth science job like? I graduated from Chemical Engineering school and was interested in about tranferring to Earth and Science field. ( Climate change/ Weather forcast/Meteorology/Environmental management) I don't know much about working environment, career path and people whom you might work with. Can anyone give the ideas about this ? Do I need to work alone in the lab? Cause I give the important factor of my life balance as well. Thanks in advance ; )
Seeking some career advice? Ok so a few years I though I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life and that was computers because somehow I seemed to have the "magic touch" with them, whether they were working or needed to be fixed. After spending two years studying them and earning a degree I've come to realize that actually I'm pretty sick of them and as a career it would drive me crazy, at least if I was working with them most of the time. I also learned a bit about electrical wiring and circuitry which I found a bit more interesting. What has always interested me is the sea. Before anything else I thought I would follow in my father's footsteps and go into Geological Oceanography. I'm more interested in the waves and currents themselves than actual ocean floor. What area of Oceanography would this be and what kind of career opportunities are there? What sort of qualifications should I aim for in this area of study? The other area that interests me is Meteorology. Particularly maritime meteorology & weather forecasting. What kind of career opportunities would either of these offer? Again what qualifications would be worth acquiring in this field? What is the average salary in any of these areas both for someone starting out and someone with experience? Both interest me equally and would any of them offer me the chance to also use my I.T degree without having me sat in front of a computer day in and day out.
Question about Meteorology -- the job? Alright I have a question for anyone who has any experience in the job field of meteorology...i am looking to pursue a career in it (possibly). I like the subject itself enough but how would you say the job is, as in a personal account of what the reality of it is. There has to be one person on yahoo who has experience in it. Honest answers that are NOT sarcastic would be appreciated. Thank you. Basically the question was that if you have had experience in this field, what is your personal account of it? I don't plan on going into the TV aspect of it, I would much rather study weather patterns and relay information. Thank you for the careerbuilders link, by the way. I'll look into that.
which career should i choose to be? should i choose to major in meteorology or physical therapy and why? how much do each get paid? which has more job stability ?
Does anybody know what a 19k MOS would convert to in the Air Force? Honestly, I want to go to school for meteorology, but instead of that I would like to join the Air Force to get my career going sooner. Hopefully I can do that, but from what I read I probably cant. Somebody please help!!

Question about major in college and becoming a naval officer through nrotc ? If i decide to major in meteorology in college, does that mean i must serve as a meteorologist in the navy (METOC officer), or can i choose a career path like aviation in the navy?
Looking for some career advice? I'm really confused and torn as to what move to make next. My skill is in I.T. I've known that for years and that's what I started to pursue. I have a BTEC which would allow me to go straight on and try for my BSc. I know that there's more opportunity for I.T. careers and the pay is generally quite good but having been working day in and day out with computers for the better part of 8 years I've come to realize that making a career out of them would certainly not thrill me. My interest has always been the ocean and environment (Oceanography or Meteorology) But I know that there are so few opportunities for these careers and the pay is lower. Which should I go for? A career that I know I'm skilled in and could offer in many different positions. Or take a risk on a career that I know I'd be happier and more enthusiastic in, but always have that uncertainty that I'll be able to find and maintain paid work? Do I take the risk on something I'd enjoy? Or do I go with the stability of something I'm confident with?
How hard is it to get into meteorology and making it on the news channels? Like abc fox or NBC news? Like a meteorologist. Is it hard to get to thatpoint? How would you go about starting a career like that? I'm 15 and that's probably one of the biggest dreams that I have lol. As a senior I'll be taking for science this meteorology, oceanography and geology. I think geology. Anyway. What else should I take as an extra? Cause that's the only class related to weather. I'm taking all AP classes except English lol. I hate reading boring books. Now if it's about info or research that's totally different. So please help. Thanks!
What career is right for me? I'm in my last year of high school. I'm not sure what I want to be. I have a passion for weather, so I originally decided meteorology. But I thought about it, I was never very good with science. I did TERRIBLE in chemistry. So I decided maybe meteorology isn't the way to go. I also love Kids! I defiantly would like a career with at least 2 years of college. Depending on how well I do, maybe a 4 year. Does anyone know careers that fit those categories, and how many years of college it requires? [weather]- i love learning about storms a and tornados. it's not much of an outdoor passion. just a passion for the storms. [kids] i was thinking about child life specialist.
How to determine a career choice for an adult with High Functioning Autism? I keep having second thoughts about my potential career choice. I have been in college for a year now and I am not sure if I really want to be a BioSystems engineer. I use to think that it was the perfect career choice but lately I have slightly depressed about my decision. I think it might be the mathematics involved. I ask myself the question “Do I really want to spend the rest of my life doing math?” But I think I am asking myself the wrong question. I have never been a huge fan of math; but I have learned to accept it as useful knowledge. I have high functioning autism and I am limited in my social abilities. I have unintentionally based my career choice on my disability because I know that I really do not like social situations enough to be a doctor, therapist, veterinarian, lawyer, teacher, so on and so forth. I have raised the pros and cons of my career choice and have determined that BioSystems engineering is seemingly the best career for me, but I think I might be missing something on my quest for self actualization. Another possible career choice that I would possibly enjoy would be screenplay writing; but I only think of screenplay writing as a hobby. I have also thought of meteorology but I really do not want to transfer to OU from OSU. Does anyone have any ideas that could help me determine a suitable career choice?
Deciding on a career to pursue? What would be a good career for me to pursue? What's a good entry level in any of the careers I've listed? I'm set to go on for a Bachelors in Computer Science but I'm not sure if computers are the way for me to go, at least, not as a main career. I'm good with computers, I have a decent knowledge both in theory and practice and things I don't know, I'm quick to learn. But computers don't hold much interest for me. It's something I'm skilled at, not something I'm especially enthralled with and not very mentally stimulating. I can see myself becoming sick of it very quickly and hating my job if it's based solely on I.T. I don't want to be stuck behind a desk or hanging off a phone day in and day out. I'm mainly interested and enthralled with... Meteorology Mineralogy Oceanography Linguistics Archaeology Ideally I'm looking for a field of work that allows me to be outdoors. Having taken a few career tests, I've been shown as a pretty much an all-rounder, but many of the things I've listed are my top matches. My problem is that I really can't decide what I should pursue or how to begin pursuing it. I don't mind studying further or going directly to work but I'm so frustrated with this, I just want to do SOMETHING and NOW. The career adviser at my college wasn't much help and my council one wasn't much better. They're happy to advise you once you've chosen a career but they're no help in narrowing down a suitable one for you. Should I change my career choice to find someone? I feel so lonely compared to other people who having fun dating and stuff. However, I feel that its my career choice that is keeping a potential mate away from me. I’m a meteorology major and I was thinking of changing to business or accountant; however truly I’m not interested in neither of those fields. I love meteorology since I was a kid, but I feel that people thinks scientists are nerdy people with big glasses. That is how people see scientists sometimes, but I don’t wanna be thought as that. A lot of times I never talk to girls I always wait for them to make the first move to strike up a conversation because I’m shy. I just don’t know what to say to a girl and how to ask them out because I feel so uneasy. I just want a girl to ask me out because it will make me feel more comfortable then me asking them. When girls ask me what my major is and when I tell them I feel they think I’m a total geeky, nerdy and they don’t want to date me at all. So should I change my major? Or do I need to change myself personally and if so where should I start?
Senior Project Ideas for a Meteorology Student!? To graduate high school, I need to spend 40 hours completing a project that has to do with what I would like to do as a future career. I want to become a broadcast meteorologist, but I have contacted all studios and radio stations and can because I'm not a college student. HELP?!
Medical career advice would be appreciated, please? After three years at a state college with a few different majors that ended up disgusting me, I left the university to explore other options and applied to a two year on-site hospital radiologic technology program. After having nearly one year under my belt I've decided that, definitively, this is the path I want to take with my career. I would like to continue on in the medical field; ultimately, I would love to go on to medical school after I would finish up my four years at a university. I've maintained a 4.0 at my radiologic technology program within the hospital; however, my grades earned previously during my stint at the state school were somewhat unsatisfactory. I'd say after about two years of study there, I'd earned about a 3.0 cumulative GPA. My poor grades were within my aforementioned despised previous majors (criminal justice and meteorology). I am generally quite intelligent and am absolutely certain that any classes I would take now at a university as part of a pre-med course schedule I would receive outstanding marks. My question is, have my moderately low grades in previous majors already prevented me from attending any sort of M.D. or D.O. program, even with great scores in pre-med subjects and (what I believe could be achieved) competitive scores on the MCAT? If so, are there any other options I could possibly consider? ANY advice from anyone with experience in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
